Dear fellow J105 sailors

Fleet 10 invites you for a weekend of intense competitive racing and merriment in one of the most exciting ports in the world, New York Harbor.

Please join us on May 19 & 20 for the second annual Manhattan Regatta. The challenge of navigating between tugs, barges and the Staten Island Ferry, while under the watchful gaze of the Statue of Liberty makes for a thrilling and unique racing experience. This is an event solely dedicated to the J105 class. Courses will primarily be windward/leeward with inflatable markers and managed by several support boats.

Social events include an outdoor barbeque aboard Liberty State Park’s Lightship and an awards party at North Cove Marina on Sunday after racing.
Berthing locations have many amenities within the length of a spin halyard, so boarding on/off your boat with restaurants, clubs and bars nearby,
make this regatta truly a destination event for the whole crew. And please invite family and friends too. Probably the only local J105 regatta where
spectators can watch the racing without ever stepping off land.

We hope you can join us. Just go to http://www.yachtscoring.com/emenu.cfm?eID=603 to see more information and to register.

Cedar Point YC ONEDESIGN Regatta

Hello I am the chairman of the Cedar Point YC ONEDESIGN Regatta in Westport, CT.
This year we will be marking our 11’th season with this regatta which has always included J105’s.
Unlike most other regattas we have grown in size every year thanks to great location, fun atmosphere, steady breezes and fantastic racing.

This year the J105’s will be hosting their East Coast Championship as part of the regatta.
Looking through yacht scoring to see what other events there are nearby I saw this one and I was hoping we could get on your Fleet 10 website as a possible regatta to attend.
We are also on yacht scoring this year and I will include our NOR for you to post along with the note of our event if you would be so kindJ

I hope that you all have a great 2012 sailing season and hope to see you at the regatta!

Let me know if I can assist in any way further to promote the event,

Kattack Races up for Manhattan Regatta

Most boats in Fleet 10 and Fleet 6 have purchased Kattack transponders for the season. This means that all of the weekend regattas as well as the MYC Wednesday night races will be viewable live and available for replay (assuming folks remember their units and keep them charged). Four of the six boats in Manhattan Regatta are represented in the latest post (no Gumption3 or Skal, unfortunately).

Next Up: Keyport

The second regatta of the Fleet 10 season will be the Keyport Yacht Club's Bill Volk Regatta, June 11 & 12. The complete 2011 schedule is now posted and available at the link below.

First Annual Manhattan Regatta held at Manhattan Sailing Club

The first annual Manhattan Regatta kicked off the Fleet 10 season May 14/15. Co-hosted by Fleet 10 and the Manhattan Sailing Club, and located half way between Raritan Bay and Long Island Sound, the event drew boats from both Fleet 10 and Fleet 6. Kevin Granger's Gumption3, of Fleet 6, captured first place. Gareth Gaston, skippering Fairhope, came second; Dave Spence's Synergy took third. Four races were completed on Saturday but flukey winds, fog, rain and a strong ebb tide on Sunday made for two abandoned races -- but also lots of great pictures.

The Manhattan Regatta

The Manhattan Sailing Club is hosting a J/105 only regatta in New York Harbor the weekend of May 14 and 15. This will be a truly unique event and we hope to have a big turnout of both Fleet 10 and Fleet 6 boats.

Bill Volk Leukemia Cup Race

The first J105 racing regatta of the season for Fleet 10 is rapidly approaching on June 12 and 13. Registration and entry forms are due at Keyport Yacht Club by June 4th 2010, without incurring any late fees. Let's see everyone out for a great weekend of J105 racing! The racing schedule has further information on upcoming events.

J-105 Narragansett Bay Championship Tour

Fleet 14 (Southern New England) is pleased to announce the J-105 Narragansett Bay Championship Tour consisting of three closely-spaced regattas that typically draw competitors from Marblehead to Annapolis:

Coastal Living Sail Newport (July 10-11)
NYYC Rolex/J-105 East Coast Championship (July 17-19)
Wickford Yacht Club West Passage Regatta (August 7-8)

To make it easy for out-of-towners, Brewer Wickford Cove Marina, adjacent to Wickford Yacht Club, will haul, power wash and store visiting boats during the Tour at deeply discounted rates.

During the West Passage Regatta, Sampson Rigging will award the top boats their choice of its newest hi-tech sheets and halyards, West Marine will spice up the Saturday night dinner with some exciting product giveaways, and Waterline Systems, the Portsmouth RI builder of the J-105, will award the overall Tour winner the J-105 Narragansett Bay Championship half-model perpetual trophy along with gift certificates for spare parts (anyone need new floorboards, some stanchions or a pushpit?)

Along with these generous product contributions, North Sails will provide mark set boats during the West Passage Regatta as well as offering on-the-water coaching for all comers on Friday, August 6, followed by a debrief and welcome party at Wickford Yacht Club.

Some news from Fleet 10 President John Pearson

We are set for weighing boats at RYC May 16th and 17th cost about $50 per boat for renting of the scale. We have 7 boats signed up. We have a little work still to do about depth, and sling which we now can do that the weather is warming up. Fleet trophy; I got PHRF MA to give out 1st 2nd and 3rd place J105 trophies if all boats join PHRF MA. Dennis Meichel has done some great working in gathering information to hopeful win a rating appeal Monday with PHRF-MA to equal LI Sound. This gives all J105s more options to race this summer.Nice Job!!! First race fleet 10 is June 13th and 14th Get those boats ready!!!
